Since I started playing AD&D 1st edition in 1987, I have been hungry for something. I wanted to make my own stamp on the D&D worlds. So I have begun to create Nostras Patria. It has been many years, many names and many trials and errors. I hope to create a world that is real enough to satisfy the critics and unique enough to stand out from all the other worlds in existence.
People who know me know that I love most things Roman and can't stand D&D elves. This world is a chance for me to fulfill my visions for a world that is recovering after the fall of a Great Empire and a world in which the elves are much more like their mythic counter-parts and far less like their D&D stereotype.
A Note on my use of Latin, I am not a Latin scholar and am making my best guess at how to use the Latin I am putting on this page. Any polite, helpful criticisms are welcome and encourage. My Latin comes from using links found at http://www.italatin.com/multilingual.html
This world has several distinct cultures that are being developed as play progresses. For example, under calendars, I point out that each nation has their own calendar but I have only developed two at this point. When I, or a guest DM runs a game in say the Troad, then a calendar for the Troad will be developed. As relevant details, like local pantheons are created they will be posted here. As the world continues to heal from the darkness, someone will devise an almanac for the world. Welcome to my world and follow the links above to find out more about my world and the Campaigns I am running.
A Note on Printing, set your margins to 1/2 an inch on each margin and each page should fit on a standard 8 1/2" x 11" other wise you will get a 2nd page that is blank save for headers. Why it works that way I haven't a clue.
